The Parents Internet Guide was developed by a concerned parent of a teen and pre-teen, who is employed in the computer software industry. While it was easy for him to keep tabs on his kids computer usage, he realized that many households do not have a "computer-savy" parent watching over their kids.

It was this realization that prompted our founder to develop The Parents Internet Guide, in order to help parents get a handle on how their children are using the Internet.

The threats are real, from pornography, bullies, identity theft rings, and sex offenders. Adult and Pornography web sites have developed sophisticated techniques to drive traffic to their sites. In fact, one study showed the following:

Nine out of 10 children aged between eight and 16 have viewed pornography on the Internet. In most cases, the sex sites were accessed unintentionally when a child, often in the process of doing homework, used a seemingly innocent sounding word to search for information or pictures. Any visit to a questionable web site can download graphics/pictures or small programs (called cookies), which in turn help other web site owners to send unsolicited "pop-up" ads or even download viruses.
